Nirdhan started its fifth location at Krishnanagar in Nadia district. It was very important, as usual, that we found an institution to team up with for this purpose. Six months of hard work paid off when we found KRISHNAGAR GAIT ROAD WOMENS HANDICRAFTS DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY who has been working on key issues of Art & Culture, Health & Family Welfare, Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, New & Renewable Energy, Women’s Development & Empowerment. This organisation was founded by Rabindranath Biswas and Monika Adhikari. The couple’s main objective is to provide marketing and technical assistance to the poor artisans, organise awareness camp to form SHGs, organise skill development programme to upgrade the socio economic conditions of the community. To attend exhibitions for getting proper market of the women members’ products. The society is engaged in producing jute diversified products and tribal embroidery to strengthen the economic conditions of the community.
As with other partners, the work of Krishnagar Gait Road Women Handicrafts Development Society and Nirdhan remains entirely separate but we benefit from the association.
