My name is Sephali Mondal, and I live in Moktarpur village in the Canning-II block with my husband and two children. Previously, we stocked fish in our pond (on lease) mainly for home consumption. Since we did not own any agricultural land, we leased a field for paddy farming. However, we were unaware of how to make money from fish farming and lacked the knowledge of how to manage it effectively. As a result, we lost many fish to diseases and didn’t know how to treat them. Our agricultural income was also insufficient to cover our family’s expenses. I used the money to renovate our house and also spent money on children’s books and stationeries for school.
